Farmer’s Daughter

Farmer’s Daughter Project Notes

Built alongside orange groves which, sadly, no longer exist, this beloved Los Angeles motel was reborn as an award-winning boutique hotel. The property was expanded to 66 rooms with a new lobby, a restaurant, and an interior courtyard that welcomes visitors, both from the neighborhood and the neighboring Farmer’s Market, to drop in and relax.

Iconic rural themes fuse with modern sensibilities to balance country warmth and couture style, as illustrated by the gingham wall design and barn wood incorporated into the hotel’s façade. Country-style shadow boxes highlight treasures throughout the property, offering guests a chance to pause and celebrate these architectural discoveries in a spirit of fun. A giant quilt pattern unfolds across the courtyard and lobby, playfully unifying the indoor and outdoor spaces.
